3 Global Pioneers in Superconductivity Join Forces to Accelerate Product Commercialization

London, UK, August 16:  Zenergy Power plc is pleased to announce the acquisition and consolidation of three leading providers of high-temperature superconductor materials and applications. The forces of Zenergy Power plc, Australian Superconductors Ltd., SC Power Systems Inc. and Trithor GmbH (“the Group”) will be combined to create a global player in the field of high temperature superconductivity. Zenergy Power will combine both 1st generation superconductivity commercially-ready products (with existing sales) with ongoing 2nd generation superconducting wire development.

Zenergy Power believes that the Group`s advanced development of new low cost production processes for 2nd generation products utilise processes that will give the Group cost and scalability advantages over the alternative methods currently adopted by other industry participants. Further to this the Group has also forged strong relationships with a number of manufacturing, utility and power companies and has benefitted from in excess of €40 million of historical governmental grants and investment. The newly formed Zenergy Power believes that it will be capable of providing global reach in the development and production of superconductivity products for the renewable energy, national power and industrial sectors.

The Group´s proprietary technology is intended to respond directly to the demands of large consumers of electrical power for efficient, compact, environmentally friendly and cost effective production and distribution solutions.

Dr. Jens Müller, Managing Director of Trithor, commented: “Our technology utilising high temperature superconductor materials will target potential billion dollar markets and is supported by a portfolio of more than 60 patents and patent applications in the Group as well as an experienced management team with over 75 years of combined industry experience related to superconductivity.”

Products under development in the energy division include superconducting power generation components for wind, wave and hydropower which aim to enhance the economics of renewable energy production, as well as power surge protective products for electricity grids, known as fault current limiters. The industrial division is focused on innovative end-customer solutions for the metal working industry such as induction heaters and linear motor devices which can help to dramatically reduce power consumption and carbon emissions, distributed under the brand ‘Limodraw’. The Group markets these products globally to utility companies and industrial corporations, both directly and through strategic relationships.

Woody Gibson, Managing Director of SC Power Systems, commented: “While each of the brands aims to respond to local needs in the global markets, we will internally seek to make efficient use of the synergies of a global sales network.”

HTS technology has the potential to replace copper wire in a wide range of devices and products from electrical power lines and equipment, to motors and generators, to consumer, industrial and medical products.
