Demonstration Facility Set-Up at Trithor: Following
Successful Testing World’s First Contactless Tube Drawing System is
Available
for Customers
Rheinbach,
Germany, Sept. 8: Trithor Gmbh, a leading producer of high temperature
superconductor (HTS) components and systems, is pleased to announce that,
after extensive testing, the world’s first contact-less tube drawing system
has been commissioned for prototype service
at its Rheinbach superconductor factory. Together with German
Bültmann GmbH, Trithor has developed Limodraw™, a metal working machine,
which produces consistently high quality tubing at
high throughput rates. Limodraw™ is targeting
purchasers who are keen to secure increased quality and productivity in the
manufacture
of metal tubing.
Trithor’s
Managing Director, Dr. Carsten Bührer, commented on the time to market:
"In March Trithor announced the supply
of 40 high temperature superconducting (HTS) coils for the
first Limodraw™ system. Less than half a year later the consortium around
Trithor and the manufacturer of special
machinery Bültmann GmbH has successfully completed, installed
and tested the system."
Tube
drawing is a basic metal forming operation which is used to produce metal tubing
of various sizes. The major shortcoming of
the tube drawing process is related to the mechanical
forces on the tube which can lead to breaks and limit production speed. Limodraw™
works without mechanical contact, being purely based on electromagnetic action.
Limodraw™ enables greater product quality without product rejection and
drastically improved speed of production.
These characteristics reduce production costs considerably. Werner
Witte of Bültmann GmbH commented, "The innovative Limodraw™ device is
exactly
in
line with our company goals, since increased quality and productivity are in the
focus of the metal forming equipment
manufactured for our customers. The Limodraw™ technology allows
for increased deformation rates since the forces are applied both in the pulling
and in the pushing direction. Prominent
application areas are the copper, aluminium, and the brass industry".
The
Limodraw™ prototype is available to professional audience for inspection and
for drawing trials. The development of
Limodraw has been funded in part by the European Union.
Limodraw ™ drawing benches can exclusively be obtained from Bültmann GmbH,
Neuenrade (www.bueltmann.com).
