DOE Now Accepting Phase I SBIR Applications
 
Washington, DC, September 28:  The Department of Energy is accepting Phase I grant applications from qualified small businesses for the FY 2007 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs.  The detailed funding notice and application package are available at grants.gov, Opportunity Number DE-PS02-06ER06-30.

FY 2007 Phase I Funding Notice, as well as the detailed technical topic descriptions in which applications are sought at FY 2007 Technical Topics.
 Small businesses with strong research capabilities in science or engineering in any of the research areas sought are encouraged to apply.  The deadline for submission of grant applications is November 21, 2006, at 8:00 p.m. EST. 

Successful applicants (approximately 330 for SBIR and 30 for STTR) may receive up to $100,000 for a Phase I grant for a period of about nine months to develop the feasibility of the idea.  Phase I awardees may apply for Phase II funding up to $750,000 for those ideas with the highest potential to meet program objectives.  For more information pertaining to the programs including a list of the research areas, go to www.science.doe.gov/sbir or call 301-903-1414.  APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED THROUGH GRANTS.GOV  

In order to apply, you MUST have a Dunn and Bradstreet Universal Number (DUNS) and be registered in the Central Contractor Registry (CCR).  A DUNS number is free by calling 1-866-705-5711

A DUNS number is required to register with CCR.  Call 1-888-227-2423 to register in CCR.
